The 10-Character Limit Rule
Nintendo's Golden Constraint
Since the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players have been bound by the sacred 10-Character limit constrain for their island names (excluding spaces). This limitation gave birth to highly creative compound nouns like Starfall, Peachbay, or Mosswood. A truly great island name fits cleanly into the game UI without feeling cut off.
Aesthetic Framing
A popular naming tactic is combining your native fruit with your geographic preference (e.g., Apple + Bay = Applebay). Alternatively, 'core' aesthetics have distinct phonetic tones. Fairycore utilizes soft, tinkling sounds (L, M, S) like Luma or Sylvia. Spooky islands rely on harsh, heavy tones (G, R, D) like Grimhollow.
